Aktueller Hinweis zu SARS (infektiöse
respiratorischen Erkrankung - SARS, Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrom) :
Es besteht diesbezüglich auf den Philippinen
kein erhöhtes Gesundheitsrisiko. Dieses ergibt sich aus den
letzen Informationen der WHO (Stand 10. Mai 2003)
WHO considers that the cluster of SARS cases has been well
contained. There appears to be no increased transmission risk
in the Philippines. For these reasons, WHO does not
recommend any restrictions on travel to the Philippines.

Auch weist die WHO darauf hin, daß der Airport in HongKong für
Transitreisende kein erhöhtes Risiko darstellt.
...WHO
is now recommending, as a measure of precaution, that people
planning to travel to the following areas of China: Beijing,
Guangdong, Hong Kong SAR, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Tianjin and
Taipei in Taiwan province, consider postponing all but
essential travel. This temporary recommendation is being
reassessed daily as the outbreak evolves (see previous travel
related updates 17 , 37 , 42 , 50 ), and does not apply to
passengers simply transiting through international airports in
these areas. WHO does not recommend the restriction of
travel to any other areas. ..

europäischen Touristen in Sipadan und dem nachfolgenen Drama
im Süden der Philippinen leidet die Touristenbranche vor allem
unter den vorherrschenden Vorurteilen und mangelndem
geographischen Kenntnissen unserer Besucher. Puerto Galera ist von den "Krisengebieten"
im Süden des Landes über 1000 km entfernt! Der Grossteil der
unten aufgeführten Warnungen bezieht sich auf diese abgelegen
südlichen Inseln. Das Urlaubsgebiet Puerto Galera ist
weiterhin sicher und wird regelmässig von den in Manila
ansässigen Ausländern und Botschaftsangehörigen besucht. Es
besteht also hier kein Grund, sich von der vorherrschenden "Medienpanik"
anstecken zu lassen.
